Hey, I'm Christina!

Introduction

Welcome to Desert Boho Events! I’m so excited to introduce you to my seventh child (yes, I have six children, not to mention four dogs, a cat, and a fish) that I truly love and adore. My name is Christina and I’m the owner of Desert Boho; a few things I love include foster kiddos, going to the gym, reading books, yoga and anything having to do with design! Another fun fact is that I just finished reading my first ever book this last month! Wild right! Send me all your favorite book recommendations because now I’m hooked!

I was born in Sacramento, California and raised by my grandmother; her and I were very close and when she passed away, I was placed into foster care which is a story for another time. I always like to say I have a heart for grannies and foster kids because of this reason (but who doesn’t really?). My husband, Sean and I love to take our family to do fun things like hike, travel, eat at new restaurants and even just swim in our backyard! We spend a lot of time in the pool and a lot of time together, which is just how I like it.

It was always such a hard thing for me to balance work and life before I started Desert Boho Events; I was working a full-time job and it became more of a daily grind than it did something I was passionate about. I was a double store manager for a popular cell phone company, and before that, I was a licensed banker that sold investments for banks, and I did that for ten years; in a nutshell, I come from a sales and corporate world pretty big time. But honestly, it wasn’t anything I was passionate about, it was something to pay the bills, and that was it. I got to the point where I was just over it, and I wanted more out of life. I wanted more time to work out, to read, to do yoga, I wanted to find myself again which is kind of intimidating when you’ve been a mom and corporate employee for so long of your life. I wanted to find things that I enjoyed instead of the constant hustle of work and kids. I wanted more freedom.

I started looking online and was searching for things like Interior Design, Airbnb Designer, Store Designers, etc. After so much scrolling I kept seeing these event businesses popping up, some did picnics and others did variations of it and I loved it, I was instantly sure that’s what I was going to do. The funny part is that I didn’t have a great plan; my husband and I literally loaded up our car on a Sunday morning with blankets and pillows from my couch, a table I purchased of Facebook Marketplace, plates from my cupboard and literally anything else I would need, and do you know what we did? We set up a dang picnic and it was great! I think that’s what I love so much about my story is that I literally started with just the things I had in my home.

It was nice having my full-time job at first because I could invest everything I earned from Desert Boho back into the company; I could purchase plates, silverware, linens, table runners, etc.! I developed such an extensive inventory because of it, so I’m forever grateful for that. I know you will love this company because my sense of design, my actual design pieces, my experience in the service industry and my ability to create an all-round experience will leave you feeling amazing and wowed.

When you have a major life moment, my hope is that you think of me and Desert Boho Events because we will always be here for your big day. I can’t wait for you to come along on this journey with me! Xo, Christina
